Restaurant Gas Safety KGS GC208 — Kitchen Gas Valve Placement and Piping Floor Plan Guide
By Hiramise Team
Gas safety in a restaurant kitchen floor plan is not optional. KGS GC208, the Korean Gas Safety Corporation standard, specifies shutoff valve location, pipe material, and leak detector mounting height in precise detail.
KGS GC208 Key Requirements — Shutoff Valves
The main gas shutoff valve must be installed at a location immediately accessible during a fire or gas leak. Show its location and identification label on the floor plan.
- Location: near the kitchen entrance or within 1m of the gas entry point
- Height: 1,600–1,800mm above floor, reachable by an average adult
- Automatic shutoff valve (solenoid): connection to a gas leak detector signal recommended
- 500mm clearance around the valve — no storage allowed, note on floor plan
Gas Pipe Routing on the Floor Plan
- Pipe material: city gas uses steel or copper pipe; LP gas uses high-pressure hose or steel pipe
- Exposed pipe sections: show protective guards or cladding
- Floor-embedded pipes: protective conduit required; show routing with dashed lines
- Range connection: flexible hose maximum 1.5m; mark connection point on plan
Gas Leak Detector Installation Standards
- LNG city gas: within 300mm of the ceiling because it is lighter than air and accumulates at the top
- LPG: within 300mm of the floor because it is heavier than air and accumulates at the bottom
- Detector position: within 4m horizontal distance of the gas range
- Alarm linkage: automatic valve lock-on-alarm earns credit in fire marshal inspections
Select KR in the Hiramise restaurant category and gas shutoff valve position and leak detector placement are automatically validated against KGS GC208. Non-compliance triggers an error warning.
