Animal grooming businesses must meet facility standards under Korea's Animal Protection Act and its Enforcement Rules, and register with the local city or county office. Reflecting legal requirements in the floor plan before construction is essential.

Required Facility Standards for Animal Grooming Businesses

• Separate grooming space from cage holding area: minimize animal contact and stress
• Cage size: each animal must be able to stand and turn around (Animal Protection Act Enforcement Rules)
• Washing equipment: animal-specific tub or grooming tub with water supply and drain connection
• Sanitation: grooming table surface must be cleanable; dedicated storage for disinfectants

Cage Placement Principles

Cages must be placed away from direct sunlight in a ventilated area. Maintain at least 800mm clearance in front of each cage for animal entry and exit and cleaning.

• Front clearance: 800mm per cage
• Side and rear clearance: 50mm from walls for ventilation
• Large dog cages: minimum 900×900mm; small dog and cat cages: minimum 600×600mm
• Stacked cages: top tier no higher than 1,800mm from the floor
